Established in July 1972, China National Petroleum and Chemical Planning Institute（NPCPI, the former Chemical Planning Institute of The Ministry of Chemical Industry）is engaged in making industrial planning research and engineering consulting business in petroleum and chemical sectors nationwide. With national first class engineering consulting qualification and entrusted by the National Development and Reform Commission, NPCPI can also undertake investment consulting and evaluation of chemical and medicine projects. NPCPI has been a member company of the FIDIC since 1997. 
NPCPI has a prestigious position in engineering consulting in China’s petroleum and chemical industry and possesses comprehensive expertise in petroleum and chemical industry. e.g. oil refinery, ethylene, chemical fertilizers, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, caustic soda, soda ash, inorganic salts, coal chemicals, basic organic chemicals and intermediates, synthetic resins, synthetic rubbers, synthetic fibers, functional high molecular materials and new materials, coating, dyestuff, pesticides, bio-chemicals, fine chemicals, rubber processing, as well as layout and transportation, utility supply, (civil engineering, water supply and drainage, power supply, steam supply) environmental protection, automatic control, enterprise management, techno-economic analysis, etc.
NPCPI has made long-term and medium-term development plans for China petroleum and chemical industry from the Fifth to the Tenth Five-Year Plan Period as well as long range development plan to2015. During the Eleventh Five-Year Plan Period, NPCPI has undertaken several special plan researches, project evaluations and made great distribution to the sustainable development of Chinese chemical industry.

NPCPI has also undertaken a lot of general plans, detailed plans for the constructjion of chemical industrial parks in most regions in China. Over two hundrend projects, including development plans and feasibility studies, have been completed each year. NPCPI enjoy high reputation nation at home and abroad.
